Happy Birthday Jensen ~ 17 ~

Jensen is officially 17!  I cannot believe it!  My little J is a junior and only a year away from graduating and two away from his mission.  Yikes!  I am trying very hard to live in the moment and appreciate where he is now, but I know how fast it goes.  Jensen was fortunate this year because his birthday fell on a Friday and there was a teacher inservice day scheduled which meant "NO SCHOOL"  so he got the best gift of all, a day off.  Thursday night he decided to have a bunch of friends meet at Laser Quest then after they came over to our house to hang out.  The boys stayed the night and didn't sleep much.  I did.  Thanks to Tylenol PM.  They got to sleep in and then have a big breakfast by chef me.  After they went and played ultimate frisbee at the park.   Jensen just came back home and relaxed the rest of his day.  He had a great time, and I had so much fun watching him enjoy his day.
Entering the game
Jensen won the 1st game, even wearing all white...which is the color that glows the most brightly under the black lights?  Not sure how he pulled that off?

Lots of pizza ,salad, pop and breadsticks
playing games
Paige and Anna
Jennifer whose birthday is the same day as Jensen's.  They jokingly call each other twiners.
Faith loved all the quarter machines
Banner I made for his party
Jensen's favorite cupcakes..."better than sports cake"
favorite picture of the day...I love how the two treats are in focus on both sides of the frame but the middle is blurred.

Jensen Basketball Season Ends

It's a bittersweet moment when I realize another season has ended for Jensen's school ball.  He only participates in basketball and while it's a busy and difficult schedule, I sure do love to watch him play.  This year he made the JV team.  He is number 15.  He is a great athlete and we can't wait to see what he does his junior year.  Good Job Jensen!  We love you!

New NEWS part 3 Jensen

My sweet agent J!  Gugu Jake, J, Yensen!  He has so many nick names.  The nickname "Agent J" came  from watching Men in Black and laughing when Michael Jackson came on screen as agent M...somehow we all became an Agent in that moment.  However Jensen's "Agent J" has stuck for me and I call him that often.  GuGu is Chinese for big brother,  Faith calls him gugu J, but Jensen thought she was saying Jake...so another nick name is formed.  J is just his first and middle initials, and Yensen is the name my niece gave him when she was visiting one summer.  This boy just melts my heart.  He is not rebellious in any way and is a sweet 16 year old.  He probably talks the least to me about his social life so I don't know if he is actually "sweet 16" or not.
Jensen has had a year full of changes.  He has a new little sister he is smitten with.  He is driving now.  He made the JV basketball team, got braces and he is old enough to date!  Whoot! Whoot!  That excitement about him dating is from me not him.  In fact, I keep trying to get him to ask a girl to a dance, or double date with Kylee, or triple with Spencer while he was here...he will have none of it!!!   (side story)  When Spencer turned 16 he also didn't want to date.  I arranged a blind date for him and he obediently went, not really wanting to.  I set him up with a talkative cheerleader that went to another school.  She was darling, and he loved it!  Moral to the story...trust mom!  She's got your back!
Somehow Jensen doesn't get the moral of that story no matter how many times I tell it.  So Jensen has not had a first date.   All my efforts, and bribes have fallen on deft ears.  So any guesses to what Jensen is doing this Friday night?  He got asked on a double date by a girl...and he is going! By the way this girl so happens to be the same girl he was madly in love with in the 3rd 4th and 5th grades.  Funny isn't it?   So now Jensen can chalk dating up on his list of new experiences this year!  This is how Jensen's life has gone...things come to him.  He rarely has to seek out or work very hard to get what he wants.  I am not convinced this is good for his character, but hey who wouldn't want to live a charmed life?

Happy 16th Birthday Jensen!

Jensen is the last person that would want any attention...so of course we had to throw him a surprise birthday party!  Jensen's good friend Blake and his family were gracious enough to host the party at their home.  Blake helped with the surprise by inviting Jensen up for Pizza...I intentionally didn't make dinner so he would be hungry.  We also had the party 6 days before he  actually turns 16 because next weekend is Homecoming.  I think this helped with the surprise factor.

Jensen was clueless, and didn't even realize all the horns and screams were for him...his words, " What is going on...I think I'm in shock!"  We put a t-shirt on him that everyone signed for his birthday day.  They hung out by  the fire, played some ball, listened to tunes, and ate Jensen's favorite snacks;  pretzels, Puppy Chow, homemake rootbeer, sweedish fish, nachos, homemade caramel and apples, and his favorite cake with Creamsicle ice cream.

It was suppose to rain, but thankfully the weather was beautiful, and the storm rolled in around 11 pm as the party was ending.  Perfect!  Jensen then came home with some friends and they stayed over and up ALL night...this morning we had breakfast and are now relaxing...I am so happy he enjoyed himself and is surrounded by great friends.  Thanks to everyone who came and helped out!
